Ali S. Awadh Asseri. Combating Terrorism: Saudi Arabia's Role in the War on Terror New York: Oxford University Press, 2010. 196 pp., $27.95 hardcover. ISBN: 978-0-19547-807-5.

These policy recommendations are fleshed out further in the conclusion. They include a periodic updating of the above-mentioned game theory, continued spend ing on BioWatch, BioShield and BioSense programs, reduction of proliferation path ways that include greater control in pursuing ‘‘prudent measures to not divulge state of-the-art technical and procedural material’’ followed by exercises and training at the international and national levels (p. 205). The volume’s six appendices are quite useful. By far the most sobering Appendix is B, ‘‘Dark Winter Exercise Findings,’’ while the most challenging will be Appendix F ‘‘Game Theory (Example).’’ The notes, selected bibliography, and index are invaluable assets to any reader and demonstrate once again the author’s thorough grasp of the issues in this complex field. The volume will be most useful to graduate schools. Whether used in courses focused specifically on this topic, risk management and threat assessment, or in a survey course which discusses biological weapons as part of an overview of emerg ency management, this volume’s cogency and ready access to other research in the field enhances the volume’s usefulness.
